JOB OBJECTIVE The Wage Assignment Processor is responsible for all aspects of employer responses and required actions for all wage assignments and verification for earnings and employment received by the payroll department.
This position works closely with the issuing court authorities, creditors and law firms to facilitate and execute the employer's responsibility for every order and request.
This position is part of the payroll team and provides all aspects of wage assignment and verification support to all levels within Schulte Companies as well as to external stakeholders.
The role processes orders and documents for all payroll groups within Schulte Companies and may provide additional administrative support to the payroll, benefits and human resources departments as needed.
The wage assignment processor is an active participant in driving success within the payroll department by ensuring all orders and requests are completed by the appropriate deadline and payroll cut off times as well as staying abreast of wage assignment legislation changes per entity and jurisdiction to ensure compliance and best practices for the organization.
JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES Maintain a high level of service culture for internal and external stakeholders.
Perform and support all steps and tasks related to wage assignment processing and responses.
Conduct employee status research utilizing internal and external sources.
Work with HCM vendor to set up and maintain withholding codes and goals.
Receive and process external agency notices and inquiries.
Monitor and retrieve orders from registered agents through Service of Process portal.
Set up and maintain all withholding codes for appropriate assignment orders on associates electronic profiles within the HCM software.
Work with HCM vendor to drive and support resolution to withholding issues.
Identify and facilitate process improvements consistent with industry best practices.
Participate in department and cross-functional business partner projects and vendor system updates.
Identify and resolve needed adjustments to employee statuses and withholding limits/goals.
Provide support to the payroll team and property level associates for wage assignment inquiries.
Perform bi-weekly audits of wage withholding within the HCM system for processed payrolls and update necessary codes for withholding.
Process and send termination notices upon associate separation.
Maintain internal database of active withholding orders and the electronic filing process of received orders and VOEs.
Fax, mail and email all required responses by mandated deadlines.
Monitor and facilitate compliance to changes for wage assignment legislation and regulations, including but not limited to garnishments, child, family and medical support orders, bankruptcies and levies.
Drive or collaborate on other tasks or projects as needed.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE High School Diploma or equivalent required 2+ years' experience in Payroll, Human Resources, Legal, or Office Management KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES Effective written and verbal communication skills Proficiency in MS Office applications and various software/web-based applications Ability to work independently and within a team Exhibit integrity and confidentiality at all times Utilize strong analytical, problem-solving, and quantitative skills Set and prioritize tasks and pivot as needs evolve Maintain high level of meticulous attention and thoroughness in set tasks Collaborate with multiple stakeholders, both internal and external PHYSICAL DEMANDS The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an associate to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.
