Summary
2nd Presbyterian Weekday School is hiring for the 2024-2025 school year! We are looking for passionate and creative early childhood educators to join our teaching community.
2nd Pres.
believes learning starts with safe and healthy relationships between teachers and children.
From there, our curriculum is a balance of developmental milestones and supporting children's interests through hands-on, experiential learning.
We serve children 6 weeks through kindergarten and utilize our beautiful building and outdoor campus for all ages.
We offer co-teaching positions to candidates with a degree and classroom experience, mentorship positions for those excited to get started in the ECE field, and after school positions for those interested in working our Lunch Bunch (12:00-3:00) or After Care (3:00-5:00) program.
*The salary below is for a half day teaching position, however, there are opportunities to work additional hours, up to 34 total hours, in our extended day program with additional compensation.
Our program runs from the end of August through May, and we follow a traditional school calendar including Christmas and Spring break.
Our staff and faculty receive a paycheck year-round.
Duties In weekly planning sessions, coordinate and implement educational curriculum by developing classroom activities based on developmentally appropriate practices and early learning standards with your co-teacher or mentor teacher.
Lead by example; encourage teaching team success through modeling and coaching.
Plan individual and group age-appropriate activities to actively engage children and encourage social, cognitive and emotional growth.
Maintain frequent communications with parents through informal discussions, progress reports, parent night events and parent-teacher conferences.
Ensure all center policies and state regulations are met.
Ensure a healthy classroom environment - including maintaining appropriate hygiene and cleanliness standards and safety and security of children.
Maintain accurate records, forms and files.
Maintain a personal professional development plan to ensure continuous quality improvement.
Requirements Strong oral and written communication skills and basic computer skills.
High energy and the ability to work well with others (staff, children, and parents) and to foster a team environment.
An understanding of child development.
Must clear a full background check and must pass health screening.
Requirements include the ability to take frequent walks, use hands and fingers, handle objects, tools or controls, talk to and hear voices at many levels.
May also be required to kneel, bend, squat or crawl.
A specific vision ability will be required including the ability to see up close and up to a certain distance, to see colors, have peripheral vision and depth perception.
Excellent leadership, organizational, and interpersonal skills.
Nice To Haves Minimum of 2 years of professional child care experience preferred.
Associate's Degree in early childhood education or related field of study with a minimum of 30 Credits in ECE preferred.
Bachelor 's Degree in education or related field of study.
Salary is commensurate with degree or experience.
Benefits Salary: School year is August through May For the position of Co-Teacher, Monday-Friday, aprox.
21 hrs.
per week, 8:45-1:00, the salary range is $17,800-$20,000, Mentee Teacher is $15,400-15,900.
The after school position, 12:00-3:00 or 5:00 is $19/hour.
Each position can be independent of the other or can work in conjunction with the after school position for additional compensation.
Financial Benefits: Children of staff may attend our school if room is available.
The Registration Fee is waived for all staff children and partial scholarships may be available.
Enrolled children of staff members may attend extended day services without charge when the staff member is working during those hours at the school.
If you work an average of 20 hours per week per their contract you become eligible to participate in a Simple IRA.
Employee wage contributions are unlimited.
Second Presbyterian will match up to 3% of wages dollar for dollar.

Non-Financial Benefits: An optimum teacher/pupil ratio.
Educational specialists such as Music Teacher, Movement Teacher, Art Specialist and Early Interventionist are all additional support.
In addition, a Speech Pathologist is available on an as-needed basis.
Personal days are included in most contracts.
Bereavement leave is available to all.
Education incentives are accessible to all.
Staff members may keep their enrolled preschool children with them before and after school hours.

In general, we close for most Jefferson County snow days but not necessarily for school cancellations due to extreme cold.
We make up only a portion of days missed.
Every class has petty cash available.

A computer is supplied to assist teachers when planning, preparing parent teacher conferences and documentation, etc.
Teachers may use the library, atrium or other areas of our campus for a quiet space to each lunch and relax when on breaks.
The Board pays pertinent early childhood conference registration fees (LECA/KECA/SECA, NAEYC) etc.
and the fee for state-mandated CPR and pediatric first aid courses.
Board-Parents treat staff to week long "Teacher Appreciation Week" and many luncheons.
