Description
Roederer Correctional Complex (RCC) is a 1,238-bed medium/minimum security adult male correctional facility located in Lagrange, Kentucky, and operated by the Kentucky Justice and Public Safety Cabinet, Department of Corrections.
Our ultimate mission is to prepare inmates to return to society as contributing, law-abiding citizens.
We understand that the best program to accomplish that goal is the example we set while inmates are under our supervision.

The Corrections Vocational Instructor (for Horticulture) at RCC plays a vital role in the mission through providing assessment and targeted vocational instructional services to offenders within RCC.
Experience in Horticulture is preferred for this position, as this particular Corrections Vocational Instructor provides targeted instruction in Horticulture to adult inmates within the correctional facility.
Responsibilities include, but are not limited to the following:
Provide classroom instruction in Horticulture to eligible offenders.
Adhere to supporting curriculum.
Prepare lesson plans.
Submit transcripts.
Maintain accurate and up to date records.
Inventor all tools and equipment.
Enter daily attendance into KOMS (Kentucky Offender Management System).
Maintain a safe and orderly classroom.
Respond to emergencies in a timely manner.
The ideal candidate will possess strong communication skills, organizational skills, time management skills, and the ability to recognize and accommodate individual and varied student learning style.
Minimum Requirements
EDUCATION: Graduate of a college or university with an associate's degree.
EXPERIENCE, TRAINING, OR SKILLS: Three (3) years of trade-related experience.
Substitute EDUCATION for EXPERIENCE: Additional education will substitute for up to two (2) years of the trade-related experience.

Working Conditions
Work is typically performed in a classroom/shop setting within a correctional institution.
Probationary Period
This job has an initial and promotional probationary period of 6 months, except as provided in KRS 18A.
