Education Collections Contractor Reports to: Associate Director of School Engagement Summary: The Learning, Engagement, and Belonging (LE&B) department seeks a contractor to review the Education Collection, about 400 artworks and artifacts that are used in Art Detectives, the Speed’s K-12 in-classroom program.
The contractor will complete an inventory of the collection and use best practices to organize, store, and preserve art and artifacts.
FLSA Status: This is a temporary contract position.
May - July or June - August Salary: $6,500.
00 Job Duties and Responsibilities: Use best practices for inventory management, care, and storage of the Education Collection.
Photograph and create a condition report for each item in the collection.
Write an object description for each item in the collection.
Update the Education Collection Register and add object records to The Museum System (TMS).
Archive and store objects using best practices.
Qualifications: Academic and/or practical experience as a registrar or curator.
Experience with collections management processes and software; experience with TMS a plus.
Interest in curation or collections management of Native American, African, European, and Kentucky objects.
Physical Requirements and Working Conditions: Ability to complete the following tasks with/without reasonable accommodations so the requirements of this position can be fully met: Use of a computer throughout the workday.
Remain in a stationary position periodically during shift.
Occasionally ascends/descends stairs.
Ability to access materials, supplies, etc.
intermittently throughout the workday.
Communicates using English language.
The ability to communicate information and ideas so others will understand.
Must be able to exchange accurate information in these situations.
Sees and hears or uses prosthetics that will enable these senses to function adequately so that the requirements of this position can be fully met.

Position Type/Expected Hours of Work: This is a temporary contract position.
